BioDAOs

Highlights from the past month of bio acceleration:

  • Bio released the first of its AI frameworks, the BioAgent elizaOS plugin, which converts scientific papers into structured knowledge that can be used by intelligent agents to generate biological hypotheses across scientific domains.
  • The Bio x AI Hackathon launched with 2 months of virtual hacking to create scientific AI agents, offering over $125K in prizes. The hackathon started with an in-person kick-off event in Berlin (all talks are live here). Join the Bio Discord #hackathon-chat to collaborate with fellow hackers or submit a solo project.
  • MycoDAO was approved by Bio curation and launched their pre-sale fundraise, surpassing their minimum goal of 2.1K SOL within 48 hours. Sale closes May 12 or when the max cap is reached - Participate here.

💻 Dev Updates

  • Bio contributed 8 H100 GPUs to INTELLECT-2, the first decentralized 32B-parameter Reinforcement Learning training run from Prime Intellect.

💡New BioDAOs

  • Long COVID Labslaunched their case studies for Pemgarda and Paxlovid to target viral persistence and patient #1 already documented early symptom relief. Long Covid Labs will monitor viral persistence biomarkers across multiple measurement tools and assays, and plans to collect decentralized data from their community to fuel their rapid trial engine and deploy personalized therapies targeted to an individual's biomarker profile.
  • MycoDAO passed Bio Curation and started its pre-sale fundraise which reached its minimum goal of 2.1K SOL in just 48 hours. The pre-sale fundraise is live until May 12, after which $MYCO will go live for trading. The DAO also introduced a new device that integrates with their MycoWallet app, rewarding users who contribute real-world mushroom data that can be leveraged by Myco's Multi-Agent System (MAS) to generate new therapeutics, materials and climate solutions.
  • SpineDAO launched their token auction & have raised over $200K so far (closing May 15) - Contribute here. As part of the Bio x AI Hackathon, Spine discussed the "Chronos" project aimed at building a knowledge graph that links historical spine texts with modern surgical methods. The DAO also partnered with Spinal Alignment Solutions (SAS), the first spine surgery industry leader to invest in $SPINE, enabling SAS to leverage SpineDAO's AI and data infrastructure to accelerate spine R&D.

🌐 Network Updates

  • ValleyDAO's Cocoa Zero yeast strain produced fats 90% identical to organic cocoa butter - learn more. Their Q1 update highlighted Hempy’s eco-friendly hemp textiles and their Cocoa Zero project. They also released new Proof of DeSci episodes with Episode 2 exploring quantum biology & BioAgents, Episode 3 discussing MIT's How to Grow Almost Anything program, and Episode 4 focusing on their Cocoa Zero project.
  • Molecule revamped their website, turning it into a DeSci discovery engine for exploring, tracking, and trading tokenized scientific IP. They also shared a new article highlighting NIH's funding cuts, with DeSci offering a promising alternative for researchers.

🧬 Bio Community Updates

  • Messari Research highlighted how decentralized patient data can reinvent the scientific value chain, noting that "various BioDAOs coming out of Bio are working toward sourcing data for AI development within their specific field, tackling challenges that would be difficult to solve with publicly available data."
